What to do if you make a mistake

I marked a tick, rather than a cross next to the name on the Ballot Paper
Don't worry, a tick or any other mark is acceptable and your vote will count.

I didn't put my mark actually inside the box.
Dont worry, as long as it is clear who you are voting for your vote will count.

I have changed my mind and want to vote for someone else.
If you have already posted your pack, then it is unfortunately too late to change your mind.
Otherwise, if you can cross out the previous mark and then put a mark against the other candidate, so that your wishes are clear then you dont have to worry.
If your paper is completely spoilt, then contact the Elections office (01642 444410) before 5pm on Election day and we will make arrangements for a new pack. If it is close to Election day you will have to collect a new pack otherwise we will send you one.

I have forgotten to put something in the envelope before I have sealed it.
Dont worry, just open the envelope and re-seal it with sticking tape.

I have lost Envelope A.
Don't worry, just put everything in Envelope B and post it back. Your vote will still count.

I have lost Envelope B.
Contact the Elections office (01642 444410) for another one, or bring your pack to Redcar & Cleveland House and we will supply a new envelope.

I have lost my Ballot Paper.
Contact the Elections office (01642 444410). If there is time, we will ask you to send back everything else in your pack and then we will send you a new pack. If there isnt time, we will ask you to come to Redcar & Cleveland House in Redcar with everything else in your pack and we will issue a new pack up until 5pm on Election Day itself. You will need to bring proof of identity with you.

I have just realised it is Election Day today and I have not posted my vote.
You have until 10pm tonight to take your completed postal pack to a polling station in the area, or to Redcar & Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar if this is more convenient. You cannot put the vote in the ballot box, but you can hand the pack to the Presiding Officer in the Station and they will make sure it is processed.

My postal pack did not arrive.
It might be worthwhile checking first with a neighbour to see if it was delivered to them by mistake.
Contact the Elections office (01642 444410). We will check you are a postal voter and if there is time, we will send you a new pack. If there isnt time, we will ask you to come to Redcar & Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar and we will issue a new pack up until 5pm on Election Day itself.

I am going on holiday and will be away when my postal pack will arrive.
Contact the Elections office (01642 444410). There may be time to appoint a proxy (someone else to vote on your behalf) or arrange to send your postal pack to a different address.
