Private Sector House Condition Survey 2016

The Council has a legal responsibility to assess the condition of houses in the area to help inform housing strategy and make decisions such as how to allocate financial assistance to home owners and private tenants. With this in mind, the Council is about to start a house condition survey of private homes within the borough. The survey is being carried out for the Council by independent consultants who specialise in this type of survey for councils across the country.

Around 1,500 homes, both owner/occupied and privately rented, have been selected at random across the borough, and will be inspected to help give the Council a true picture of housing conditions in Redcar and Cleveland. To ensure the survey captures an accurate picture of housing condition, we would like every household selected to participate. Each property that is missed makes the survey less reliable. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not identify individual property or household details.
