The Redcar & Cleveland Registration service is committed to providing a service that places the needs of the customer as the highest priority. The Registration Officers provide a very high standard of service to the citizens of Redcar & Cleveland and are dedicated to making customers visits to the Register office as pleasant as possible.
The Registration Service is responsible for registering births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and conferring citizenship upon new citizens. To register a birth or a death contact the Registrar in the location in which the birth or death occurred. For marriages please contact the Registrar in the area you live. Please note that a prior appointment is necessary to minimise waiting times.
As well as registering all important life events the Guisborough Register Office now offers an extended Celebratory Service. Marriage and Civil Partnership Ceremonies are conducted in the Register Office and at approved venues on any day of the week including weekends and most Bank Holidays, excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Citizenship Ceremonies are carried out on a regular basis for new citizens. We also offer Naming and Renewal of Marriage Vows Ceremonies which are non-statutory ceremonies. In offering these ceremonies the service opens up more opportunity for families to mark all the important occasions in their lives.
We are also responsible for the safe keeping of the birth, death and marriage registers for the area dating back to 1837. We can issue certificates from these records to family historians or to anyone needing an historical certificate for any reason.
