Our vision and strategy for the local economy - Regeneration Masterplan

Redcar & Cleveland Council is completely driven to regenerate our fantastic Borough. We have been delivering our ambitious Regeneration Masterplan for 5 years. In preparing the Regeneration Masterplan we involved thousands of people and took a long hard look at the economy. We have mapped out how the Borough can reposition and diversify its economy, to increase our resilience and increase job and business growth.

There are real challenges but phenomenal economic opportunities built on key strengths such as manufacturing, petrochemicals, the port and a growing number of SMEs for example.

In delivering the Regeneration Masterplan we are aiming to create:
14,617 new jobs
610 new businesses
7,000 new homes
£7 billion private investment

We have already made significant progress. Developments that are creating jobs, new businesses and putting key infrastructure in place to remove barriers to growth are literally coming out of the ground across the Borough. Our Enterprise Zone as part of the Tees Valley LEP is a key growth tool covering a number of sites and offers financial incentives through Enhanced Capital Allowances and Business Rates Relief alongside a simplified planning regime.

We have an insatiable appetite to do more and want to work with our communities, businesses and partners to accelerate our growth agenda and provide focus around the delivery of the next phase of the Regeneration Masterplan.
