How to Vote by Post

  • How do I apply to be a postal voter?
Anyone can apply to vote by post but you must complete an application form and supply your signature and date of birth. Download the form, fill it in and return it to the Electoral Registration Office, Redcar and Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar TS10 1RT. You will be sent a confirmation letter when your application form is processed and then your postal vote will be sent to you in good time before an election.

Step 1
STEP 1: Addressed pack
Your postal pack will be delivered to your home address about a week before the election day

Step 2: Contents of your pack
There are instructions which explain how to vote by post.
Make sure this is your pack and not another postal voter in your house.

Step 3: Postal Voting Statement
You need to enter your date of birth on the statement and sign it with your normal signature.
Make sure it is your statement and not another postal voter in your house.

Step 4
Step 4: Ballot Paper & Envelope A
Mark your ballot paper with a X next to the name of the person you want to vote for. Some elections ask you to vote for more than one person it will tell you at the top of the ballot paper.
Put your ballot paper inside Envelope A

Step 5
Step 5: Envelope A, Statement and Envelope B
Put the sealed Envelope A and the completed Statement inside Envelope B Seal Envelope B

Step 6
Step 6: Post your vote
Post the Envelope B into any post box before Election Day
Allow plenty of time for it to come back to the Returning Officer
