What is a statement of special educational needs / statutory assessment?
The SEN Service is responsible for assessing a childs needs/difficulties and if it is appropriate, following the assessment a statement of special educational needs will be issued. The statutory assessment involves collecting information from a range of professionals who have been working with your child. The statement will be reviewed annually as part of the annual review procedure.

How many children need SEN support?
About 1 in 5 children will, at some stage, require extra help and support in school.

If you have any concerns about your childs progress it is advised that you speak to the school SENCO or Head teacher initially.
