Occupation of a Road in Connection with Building Work

Licence Summary
If you wish to temporarily deposit building materials, rubbish or other items in a street you must have consent from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

You must comply with any conditions attached and comply with requirements relating to the fencing off and lighting of deposits or excavations.

Application Evaluation Process
A new licence is needed if the period exceeds the anticipated removal date. If an extension is required, but still falls within 100 days of the erection date, then no further fee will be required.

Fees
A fee of £87 is required for granting a licence to erect scaffold or temporary hoarding or other similar temporary structure on the highway, for a maximum period of 100 days, though an anticipated date for removal is required.

Will Tacit Consent Apply?
No. This means that you will not be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from the local authority by the end of the target completion period. If you feel the application is taking longer than normal, please contact the Engineering Section on the number below.

We aim to acknowledge your application within three working days. If you have applied online we will acknowledge your application via email.
