Love Your Neighbour
Love Your Neighbour Redcar and ClevelandLove Your Neighbour is a national campaign started in Birmingham by community and faith groups to counteract racial tension and race hate crime.
Love Your Neighbour is a platform to demonstrate the unity of communities and the many acts of neighbourliness that happen on a daily basis and go unseen, unreported.
Our Redcar and Cleveland campaign is led by Terry Doyle, Development Officer for Together Middlesbrough & Cleveland.
Our key messages:
- Redcar and Cleveland is a welcoming borough
- Our communities are innovative and our strongest asset
- The Love Your Neighbour campaign provides a platform that demonstrates the breadth of neighbourliness and kindness that exists within our borough
- The Love Your Neighbour launch is not a one off but a catalyst for future activity across the Borough to promote and embed the values of Love Your Neighbour
- That other areas within the Borough consider a way to celebrate locally the activity that happens in their communities
We hope community activists and leaders will want to champion and celebrate at a local level all that is good in their own communities
Spreading the message
Innovative ways have been devised to spread the Love Your Neighbour message:
- All schools have received pledge cards, inviting pupils to make a pledge to do something kind
- Facebook and Twitter accounts have been purposely created so that individuals/groups/organisations can post pledges and pictures of their acts of kindness to perpetuate the message of Love Your Neighbour
Can you do something to help your community? How can you love your neighbour?
