How do I pay?


The Council offers a variety of methods to make paying your Business rates more convenient. The statutory arrangement is for monthly payments, by 10 instalments for bills issued by mid March. These instalments are due on the first of each month from April to the following January. For bills issued later in the year the number of instalments will be reduced accordingly.


Direct Debit

Payment by Direct Debit is the most convenient method - once a direct debit form has been completed and returned to us there is nothing more you have to do. Each year we will notify you at least 14 days before your first payment is due the amounts to be debited from your bank and the dates those payments will be requested.

We also offer payment dates of the 1st or 13th of the month. Please contact us for further information.


The Direct Debit Guarantee

The guarantee is offered by all Banks/ Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit scheme. The efficiency and the security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your Bank/Building Society. If the amount to be paid or the payment date changes, the Council will notify you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.

If the Council or your Bank/Building Society makes an error, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund of the amount paid. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank/ Building Society.
