B&B: Bed& Breakfast accommodation
This is a form of temporary accommodation that the Council uses for emergencies only for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

BVPI: Best Value Performance Indicator
These are national targets set by Govermnment for all local authorities to measure.

CBL: Choice Based Lettings
The Government's housing policy places considerable emphasis on the themes of choice and responsibility. One element of this agenda is changing the mechanisms by which households access social housing. Social housing has traditionally been let using bureaucratic allocation systems administered by housing officers. Choice Based Lettings is an alternative approach to encourage choice and allow applicants to play a greater role in the process of selecting their home.

This is a comprehensive study undertaken in 2001/02 to determine the economic regeneration and housing situation in Greater Eston.

This is a group of organisations with an interest in the prevention of homelessness and the delivery of homelessness services.

LSVT: Large Scale Voluntary Transfer
The transfer of all of the Council's housing stock to a newly established local housing company. This occurred in 2002 when the housing stock was transferred to Coast & Country Housing Ltd.

SPD: Supplementary Planning Document

SRB: Single Regeneration Budget
Central Government funding for a wide range of regeneration initiatives through an annual competitive bidding process. SRB is intended to improve local areas and enhance the quality of life of local people by tackling need, stimulating wealth creation and improving competitiveness.

SSSIs: Sites of Special Scientific Interest
SSSIs are designated by English Nature under Section 28 of the wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981 and are of national importance. They may be designated by virtue of their flora, fauna, geological or physiographical interest.
