How does Scrutiny work?

How does Scrutiny work?

The Scrutiny Structure at Redcar and Cleveland is made up of four Scrutiny and Improvement Committees.

Adults & Communities Scrutiny and Improvement Committee
Children & Families Scrutiny and Improvement Committee
Resources Scrutiny and Improvement Committee
Economic Growth Scrutiny and Improvement Committee

The Scrutiny and Improvement Committees are aligned to the Councils Directorates and reflect our commitment to enhancing and delivering the Councils priorities and agreed outcomes. The scrutiny arrangements have forged stronger links between the leadership and Cabinet, Directors and Scrutiny Members and provide greater opportunities for senior managers to work more closely with elected Members in decision making.

Scrutiny has responsibility for investigating the delivery of services provided by a wide range of public, private, voluntary and community sector partners. The unique remit of scrutiny to do this means that it is in an excellent position to examine the links between these organisations and to see where joint working could deliver enhanced services for local people.
