Last chance to see hugely popular robot exhibition

Published: 1st Sep 2017

ONLY a few days remain to see alien robots who have occupied a corner of Redcar during the summer.

The metal automatons have been on display at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar in what has been a highly successful exhibition which is due to close on Sunday 10 September.

So far more than 19,000 have visited the display, titled Robot A Collection of Robots, Cyborgs and Androids, nearly double the 10,000 visitors that had been expected.

Sci-Fi fans from across the North East and Yorkshire have visited to see more than 40 animatronics from films such as Judge Dredd, Lost in Space, Robocop and iRobot. The exhibition contains full sized robots, such as the Terminator, film props, costumes and collectables.

Councillor Dale Quigley, Cabinet member for Culture, Tourism and Communications, said: "It's been a really big success. Of course the famous film robots like R2-D2 and C-3PO have been a big attraction but the domestic helper robots who help out around the house were also a big draw. We expect the exhibition to remain popular right up until closing day."

Adult tickets cost £3.50, children £1.50 and family tickets (2 adults and up to 3 children) cost £8.50. For more information go to www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/kirkleathammuseum
