Many residents say they find it hard to find a good plumber, electrician
or builder. Now help is at hand through Redcar & Cleveland's Trading Standards who have joined the TrustMark approved trader scheme.
Trustmark is the Government-backed initiative to help the public find reliable and trustworthy traders to carry out repairs, inside and outside the home.
Along with Partners Exor Management Services Ltd, Trading Standards Officers are compiling a register of local traders they can confidently promote to residents as meeting their demanding standards.
Councillor Dave McLuckie, the Council's Cabinet Member for Community Protection said:
"Until now Trading Standards have not been able to recommend traders. We believe that this initiative will promote good quality local businesses and help squeeze out the rogues."
Firms that are Trustmark approved are independently checked through on-site inspections and have their quality of work, trading practices and customer satisfaction monitored. Businesses joining the scheme will benefit from the good publicity and can display the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Trust Mark logo on their business premises, vehicles and paperwork.
For more information Redcar & Cleveland's Trailer will be on Guisborough High Street near the Clock on Thursday 16th September 11am till 3pm and on Friday 17th September at Redcar High Steer near Iceland from 10am till 2pm.
Traders wishing to join the scheme can apply through Exor on 0871 930 7274, or via the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council website www.redcar-cleveland.trustmark.org.uk.
