Get tuned in to £4.9m Youth Centre

LOCAL clubs, groups or businesses interested in delivering activities at the world class youth centre, taking shape on Redcar seafront, are being urged to attend a number of information sessions.

Tuned In! is an arts, performance and media centre which will provide an array of activities for 13 to 19 year olds, from music and drama to film making and theatre production.

The sessions will take place on:
  • Tuesday July 24, 10.00 am 11.00 am at the City Learning Centre, Normanby Road, South Bank TS6 9AE
  • Tuesday July 24, 2.00 pm 3.00 pm at Loftus Fire Station, Coronation Road, Loftus TS13 4SW
  • Wednesday July 25, 5.00 pm 6.00 pm at Redcar Library meeting room, Redcar & Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar TS10 1RT
  • Saturday July 28, 2.00 pm 3.00 pm at the Redcar Regeneration Centre,1 Pybus Place, The Esplanade, Redcar TS10 3AE

Cabinet Member for Childrens Services and Education, Cllr Joan Guy said:

This is one of the most exciting developments for young people in the area and I would encourage local groups to go along to one of the sessions to find out more.

I cant wait to see the centre sparking young peoples imaginations and becoming a hive of creativity and enjoyment when it opens later in the year.

The centre will include:
  • a performance venue for theatre, dance, drama and music
  • a recording studio
  • a radio studio
  • an arts and crafts room
  • a media suite
  • a resource room with IT facilities
  • a chill-out area for socialising
  • a hair and beauty salon
  • a beachside café facility.

The state of the art facilities will be open weekdays till 9.00 pm and until 11.00 pm on Fridays. It will also be open at weekends.
