The Council is now even better prepared to respond to severe snowfall and has increased its fleets ability by fitting three existing Council Transit Pickups with snow ploughs, as well as a gritter and electric salt hopper system.
In addition a towed salt spreader for use on an existing pick-up provides vital additional vehicles to keep routes open.
Councillor Helen McLuckie, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation, and Planning, said: "
We are changing the way we work to ensure that in times of severe disruption our communities still have access to the services in their neighbourhoods."
"Utilising our existing fleet more efficiently is a sustainable way to respond to the increasing likelihood of extreme weather events in the future.
The project, led by the Councils Environment Group and Integrated Transport Services, is one of the first major projects to combat severe weather.

This project is a real partnership response to the threat of climate change. We have analysed historical weather evidence, risk assessed the threats and identified projects with real outcomes to ensure we are as well prepared as we can be for a changing climate."
