Community Protection Officers

The scheme now consists of 53 Community Protection Officers. The scheme became fully operational on 7th January 2002 and was supplemented by government funded wardens from June 2002.

On the 29th August 2008, the Community Protection Officers were again awarded the 'Warden Quality Standard with distinction' by the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. The service was also granted re accreditation by the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police ^† on 24th January 2008, which enables the Community Protection Officers to use new powers which will be rolled out in the near future.
