Frequently Asked Questions

School mealsCan I see the menus?

Yes, the menus are available on the website, or you may contact the school or contact The School Catering Service.

My child is eligible for free school meals and I am concerned that he may be singled out as being different. Can you reassure me that this wont happen?
Yes, please do not worry about this, all primary school children go into lunch together, there are no separate queues or ticket systems for children receiving free school meals. The School Cook and kitchen staff will be unaware as to whether children have free meal entitlement or pay for their meals.

My child only eats a limited range of food and Im worried that he / she wont eat anything
We encourage the children to try new dishes with regular tasting sessions, but no child is ever forced to eat anything they dont like. If there was a problem with a child not eating then we would mention it to the teaching staff who would be able to alert you to any problems. It is not unusual for children to eat a wider range of food after they have been taking school meals for a short time.

We try to eat a healthy diet at home and I would rather my child did not eat too much processed food.
The School Catering Service is very aware of the importance of the need for children to establish healthy eating habits at a very young age. Our menus are carefully chosen to include nutritious, fresh food everyday. Our menus provide a choice enabling children to make informed decisions whilst exercising personal choice.

We welcome feedback from parents and react positively to requests and suggestions from our customers.
