Information Advice and Support Service for children and young people with SEND (formerly Parent Partnership)

Redcar and Cleveland's SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) provides independent support to parents, carers and young people around special education needs and disabilities (SEND). The service operates "at arm's length" from the Local Authority and offers impartial and confidential advice and guidance.

The SENDIAS service provides information about:

  • The SEND Code of Practice for those aged 0-25 years old.
  • How to access other Independent Support Networks including those provided locally by Carer's Together and Aspire.
  • The statutory steps required throughout the EHC needs assessment and EHC plan development, including timescales.
  • Mediation and disagreements resolution, including referral to mediation services available.
  • How to manage mediation appeals to the first tier tribunal (SEND) if you are unhappy with the outcome of the EHC assessment, and support through the appeal.
  • How SEN is identified and what support is available.
  • Who to talk to about your concerns and your rights, especially if you are unhappy with the decisions that are made.
This support can include attending meetings and reviews with families, giving advice about the local offer, personal budgets and the range of education, health and social care services available.

The SENDIAS service can be contacted on:
Tel: (01642) 759073
Mobile: 07795 305 962

The SENDIAS Officer works all day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. However, referrals for Independent Support can also be made on a Thursday and Friday via the Disabled Children's Access Officer within the information service.
