Welcome to Highcliffe Primary School
We warmly welcome you to Highcliffe Primary School. This is a co-educational community primary school for boys and girls between the ages of 3+ to 11. We hope that your childs stay with us will prove to be happy and successful and that we can provide an exciting and stimulating environment in which your child can acquire the skills and attitudes which will help them to live as full a life as possible in a fast changing world.
Through our work in school we hope to help children to communicate, to think and reason, to be aware and curious, to develop feelings for language, music and poetry, to grow physically, to discover their own manual and creative skills and to live within an accepted code of social and moral behaviour. Along with these aims we endeavour to make all children feel secure by attempting to meet their needs. We hope to do this by presenting children with interesting and appropriate challenges and to involve them in an exciting and relevant programme of study embracing the demands of the National Curriculum but tailored to meet individual needs.
The school is situated on Hutton Lane where there is a separate nursery, playgroup and before and after school club. The two main parts of the school building have been linked together by the building of a corridor and library. The Guisborough Out of School Club has two self-contained units, offering playgroup and child care from 7.30 a.m. until 6.30 p.m. and through the school holidays.
The schools admission zone stretches from Hutton Lane in the west, Enfield Chase in the south, New Road in the east and Westgate in the north. Children not living in the schools admission zone will be admitted provided we do not exceed our admission number, which stands at 60.
Currently there are 351 children in full-time school and there is a 39-place nursery with places for 78 children to attend on a part-time basis. The children are grouped according to age in two mixed-ability classes per year group. The organisation of classes and teaching groups within the school may vary, as it is dependent upon the schools allocated budget that determines how many teachers and support staff the school can afford to employ.
