What can you offer to schools?
CREST offers support, advice and treatment to drug and alcohol using young people under the age of 19. Parents, carers and professionals will also be able to receive advice and guidance from the team.

Young people under the age of 19 who are using drugs and/alcohol should be referred to CREST. The service will work with young people who are beginning to use substances, not just those hardened regular users. Please contact the team if you are aware of any young people who are using drugs or alcohol. A CREST worker will be available to visit the young person at school, at home or in the community. An assessment of the young persons substance use, its effects, its harm and the risks being taken will be completed by the CREST worker. A Care Plan will be devised which may include drugs awareness, harm minimisation work, motivational work, family work, a reduction plan, relapse prevention and/or specialist pharmacological interventions. The CREST service can be confidential, attendance is voluntary and young people can meet their key worker wherever they feel most comfortable.

Referring young people to CREST has been made even easier. Referral forms or advice can be accessed by contacting the team at CREST/Teenage Pregnancy, 16 West Terrace, Redcar, TS10 1DP, their telephone number is 01642 479324 and email address is; CREST@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk
