Environmental permitting

The Environmental Protection Team has a duty under the provisions of the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 to permit regulated installations.

A regulated installation includes Part A2 and Part B installations. Part A1 installations are regulated by the Environment Agency.

If you operate a Part B or A2 regulated installation then you must hold a permit from the Local Authority.

Part A2 Permits

These permits can for example include foundries and solvent coating installations.

The permit regulates emissions to air, land, water, noise and other environmental considerations. You can apply online for a Part A2 Permit. You can also apply for variations online.

Part B Permits

These activities can for example include dry cleaners, concrete batching plants and petrol stations.

The permit regulates emissions to air. You can apply online for a Part B Permit. You can also apply for a variation online.

How to get an environmental permit

You can apply on-line for a Part A2 or Part B environmental permit or you can contact the Environmental Protection Team for an application form.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications must be made on the form provided by ourselves, or the on-line form, and must include the specified information, which will vary depending on the installation.

Will tacit consent apply?
