The Capital Projects Team

The Capital Projects Team was originally established to procure the Grouped Schools PFI Projects. With further Government funding and various successful bids the team currently manages several major developments in the Redcar & Cleveland area. The creation of this web site is to engage with all stakeholders during the procurement of schemes.

The Capital Projects Team’s aim is to ensure that new and proposed education buildings provide the learning community with access to high quality education and training, which meets their needs and aspirations.

Grouped Schools PFI Project (Project Value £155m)
New premises for three Secondary Schools and two Primary Schools. Comprising of Bydales, Gillbrook and Sacred Heart Secondary schools and St Benedicts and South Bank Primary. The project also includes facilities management and catering for the schools in he project for approximately 30 years.
Freebrough Specialist Engineering College (Project Value £16.1m)
New premises located at Brotton to replace former buildings at Brotton, Skelton and Loftus. This brings the college together onto one site providing modern, high quality facilities for 1000 students.
Overfields PrimaryChildren’s Centre (Project Value £1.5m)
A development incorporating a new school foundation base, Children’s Centre staff, PCT and a private Nursery provider The Childrens centre officially opened on 20th July 2006.
St Margaret Clitherow’s Roman Catholic Primary School (Project Value £900k)
The project consists of major alterations to the former St Peters RC Primary school site and the demolition of the former St Andrews RC Primary school site.
Saltburn Learning Campus (Project Value £14m)
Artists impression of Saltburn Learning CampusTo establish an integrated campus with a 39 place nursery, 420 place primary and a 520 place Secondary school on a single site.
Newcomen Primary School (Project Value £3.5m)
The complete replacement of a 330 place Primary School and a 26 place Nursery
16-19 Collaborative Centre (Bid Value £9.4m)
A bid has been submitted to the Learning and Skills Council to fund two centres, one at Nunthorpe School and one shared by Eston Park School and Gillbrook College.
Building Schools for the Future (Project Value TBC)
Proposes a new approach to Capital Investment, which aims to ensure that all Secondary Schools in England have facilities of 21st Century standards.
Pathways School (Project Value £450k)
A newly refurbished building in Grangetown opened in September 2005 to give specialist provision for learners with Behavior, Social, and Emotional Difficulties.
