Remit/Comments: Establish a framework to facilitate consultation with local residents in decision making and to develop partnership working with other public service providers

To be responsible for:

· Overseeing the work of the area based environment and community safety teams
· Administering delegated budgets for community safety initiatives and local environment maintenance and improvements

To assist in monitoring and report to the appropriate Cabinet Member(s) and/or Cabinet/Scrutiny Committee upon:

· Local service delivery within the area
· The performance of services provided by other public bodies in the area

To develop effective links with other partner agencies and bodies in relation to community safety/ environmental service issues and to maintain effective liaison with those bodies

To consider proposals from the Cabinet and Cabinet Members affecting or relating to the area

To raise matters and report to the appropriate Cabinet Member(s) and/or Cabinet on issues affecting the area

To assist in the development of the Community Strategy, the Community Safety Strategy and any other key plans which may be deemed appropriate

To act as a focus for local consultation and community participation regarding key initiatives or strategies of the Council

To consider reports and make recommendations on:

· The provision of Council services which affect the area within the framework of Best Value
· Partners’ strategies and other initiatives in relation to community safety/environmental services which affect the area

To be consulted on the basic contract specifications and the prioritisation (subject to any legal constraints and prioritisation of schemes dictated by central government) in the area of key programmes such as:

· Street cleaning
· Grounds maintenance
· Highways maintenance
· Traffic calming
· Community safety
