Kirkleatham Museum is the local history museum for the borough of Redcar & Cleveland with a treasure trove of artefacts and exhibitions set on three floors all hosted within a magnificent 1710 Queen Anne building.

The museum features a wide range of semi-permanent displays covering a local & social history, maritime & industrial heritage. Renowned Saxon Princess Exhibition, a stunning showcase of some of the finest Anglo Saxon finds from Northern England is one of the few outstanding exhibitions you can experience whilst visiting the Museum.

Kirkleatham Museum plays host to an annual programme of exciting family events, musical performances and seasonal activities.

To make visiting the museum easy and convenient, you will find a free on site car park with disabled parking spaces available.

Admission to the museum is free but there are charges for some of the touring exhibitions and events held at the site.

26th March 2016 to 30 September 2016: 10am - 5pm
01 October 2016 to 14 April 2017: 10am- 4pm
Closed Mondays except Bank Holidays

Getting around inside Kirkleatham Museum

Entry to the museum is Free. The main doors are automatic. The reception desk and shop sales counter selling souvenirs, books, postcards and gifts are immediately inside.

Our friendly and helpful staff will be pleased to help you to get around the displays. Please ask if you would like some help. The museum has three floors, and is completely accessible for wheelchair users.

Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in the museum and in the Café.

Kirkleatham Museum Reference Library

The reference library has been recently reorganised and is available for private research. The collection includes a comprehensive selection of books including local history information, comprising publications, leaflets, press cuttings, parish registers and maps.
