About Welfare Rights

Welcome to the Welfare Rights Service. The information below will tell you who we are and how we can be contacted if you are in need of advice or assistance.

The Welfare Rights Service is a small team within the Council's Area Managment Department.

We aim to:
  • provide free, independent, and confidential advice and information about all Social Security benefits and Tax Credits.
  • increase the take up of benefits for residents of Redcar & Cleveland Borough through the provision of advice, casework, campaigning, information, talks and training.

Getting in touch

  • Telephone the Advice Line on 01642 771166 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 12 noon
  • Leave a message on the 24 hour answer phone on the above number and we will return your call by the next working day
  • Write to us at: Welfare Rights Unit, Belmont House, Rectory Lane, Guisborough, TS14 7FD.
  • Email: welfare_rights@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk. Please supply basic details of the enquiry and a telephone contact number. We are only able to respond to requests from people who live in the borough of Redcar & Cleveland.
