The Extraordinary Gertrude Bell: A story of adventure, discovery and political intrigue

Gertrude BellThis exhibition tells the story of the North East born explorer Gertrude Bell. An archaeologist, diplomat, linguist, writer and mountaineer who was a key figure in the discussions that led to the creation of Iraq following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire.

nordicwalking Learn the techniques involved with this outdoor activity in the relaxed social setting of the woodland. The course runs for 10 weeks, taking you from a beginner.

Redcar Triathlon

Redcar Blast - 100 Mile Walk Race

Redcar Beacon at Night Redcar Blast forms part of an historic UK race tradition, never previously held in the North East, and unlikely ever to be seen in the town again.

The course will start at the Beacon at 12:00 noon, following a route along the seafront 250 metres past the stray, and back again. A distance of 2 miles x 50 laps, lit all the way. The race also incorporates 20 mile and 50 mile races.

Gorilla Festival of Colour

Festival of Colour Logo The weekly beast that dominates Middlesbrough’s Saturday night is taking over Redcar beach for a special one off party. All party goers are given a white t-shirt and bags of throwing powder paint, when the claxon sounds hundreds of revellers throw paint into the air and cover them selves and there friends from head to toe in a multitude of colour.

Saltburn Hill Climb

vintage cars Come along to watch Saltburn’s famous hill climb. The start is from the bottom of Cat Nab car park and over 100 veteran car and motorcycle all roar along Saltburn Lane as part of the event which features motorbikes made between 1918 to 1975.
